REGAP's minimum donation of $225 for adopters includes, but is not limited to:
Recently rescued greyhounds sometimes come to REGAP with medical conditions, and we treat all conditions that present themselves while the dogs are in our foster home network. This can include teeth extractions, cyst removals, treatment for internal parasites like hook worm and whip worm, and repair of broken legs. Please note: Our policy is "no surprises," so we inform our adopters of any existing medical conditions, and some of our greyhounds are listed as "Special Needs" dogs. However, some ailments don't present themselves immediately. Michigan REGAP is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, and we raise funds to treat ailments only while dogs are in our care. Once a greyhound is adopted, the owner assumes all future medical costs for any diagnoses made after the date of adoption. As a REGAP adopter, you have the opportunity to adopt a Second Chance At Life dog. We consider all of our adoptable greyhounds special, but the prison greys come with a few “extras”. While in the program these hounds go through a 10 week training program and learn all their basic commands to receive a Certificate of Completion from this specialized obedience program. A travel bag with the SCAL logo, personally designed by the inmate, will also accompany your greyhound along with a matching collar and leash set and graduate bandana with the SCAL logo. You will receive a DVD showing you how the dogs have been trained to continue their training once adopted and when possible, the summaries written by the inmates outlining the dogs progress since it’s arrival at the prison. Since MI REGAP is responsible for the cost of each greyhound associated with this wonderful program and along with the extra goodies adopters receive, we ask for a $300 minimum donation for the SCAL dogs.
